Backstory

Master Bertio Raynberd is the proprietor of the Emporium of Marvelous Rarities, a prestigious high-end magic shop in Onadbyr. While outwardly a merchant, the Emporium also functions as a selective institution for capable “students” and as a containment site for dangerous magical items and individuals.

Though never openly described as such, the Emporium effectively operates as a quiet prison, favoring capture and containment over execution. The broader political powers of the city, including the Tower, appear to tolerate or ignore Raynberd’s activities due to the utility of problems discreetly “disappearing.”
